[Audio, Slideshow] Puppies Sound Good: Meet Venus and Buster

Venus and Buster visited us in the studio for this month’s Puppies Sound Good. The Humane Society of Calloway County’s Kathy Hodge speaks with Austin Carter on Sounds Good about the pups and an upcoming visit from Master Hairstylist Patrick Lomantini, who is on a 91 day tour to raise money for animal rescue efforts across the nation.

Caramel-colored Venus has a soft coat and is four to five months old. She and her siblings were found dropped in a rural area in the country. Hodge says she probably has some terrier heritage and will be a medium size when fully grown. Venus has a reserved personality and adores cats, according to Hodge.

Buster is six weeks old and thought to be a lab mix. He has a black coat and white-tipped feet. Hodge says his young age makes it difficult to determine what size he will grow to be but guesses medium to large. Hodge says Buster will probably be a Velcro dog because he loves following people around.

Patrick Lomantini will be styling hair at The Hair Studio this Saturday to raise money for the Calloway County Humane Society. Hodge says they ask a $20 minimum donation. This is Lomantini’s fifth BarkAID tour and fourth year visiting Murray. For an appointment, those interested can call the Calloway County Humane Society at 270-759-1884.

A proud native of Murray, Kentucky, Allison grew up roaming the forests of western Kentucky and visiting national parks across the country. She graduated in 2014 from Murray State University where she studied Environmental Sustainability, Television Production, and Spanish. She loves meeting new people, questioning everything, and dancing through the sun and the rain. She hopes to make a positive impact in this world several endeavors at a time.
Austin Carter is a Murray State grad and has been involved with WKMS since he was in high school. Over the years he has been a producer for WKMS and has hosted several music shows, but now calls Morning Edition his home each weekday morning.
