Baptist Healthcare Official Says Models Project COVID-19 Apex In Early May

A Chief Medical Officer in the Baptist Healthcare System said metrics indicate that Kentucky is doing a good job in “flattening the curve,” but people have to “stay the course” for the coming weeks.

Dr. Brad Housman said hospital and state modeling shows Kentucky has yet to see the peak of people infected with COVID-19. He said the community, businesses and individuals should consider that while getting mentally prepared for the coming weeks.

“Most of the models that we’re seeing are projecting as a state that we may reach our maximum point or the apex somewhere around the first week of May,” Housman said.

Housman said Kentuckians need to keep up the social distancing measures they’ve been following for at least the next four weeks to six or eight weeks.
