The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane Friday morning on the US 45 Ohio River "Brookport" Bridge.
The restriction is to allow an annual walkthrough inspection of the bridge structure.
The workplace restriction will be in place between 8 AM and 11 AM.
No delays are expected, but motorists should watch for flaggers alternating traffic on the one open lane.
Also known as the Brookport Bridge and the Irvin S. Cobb Bridge, the US 45 Ohio River Bridge is at McCracken County mile point 12.882.
The 10-span bridge carries approximately 5,000 vehicles across the river each day between Paducah, KY, andBrookport, IL.
The 5,385 ft. structure at Ohio River navigation mile point 937.3 was opened to traffic in 1929. Due to deck width the bridge is currently restricted to vehicles no more than 8 feet wide, which excludes most commercial trucks.
All Kentucky bridges are due for a detailed inspection every two years. Long-span bridges over lakes and rivers get an additional safety check annually.
