A Calloway County man is in jail on child sexual exploitation charges. Kentucky State Police said in a release on Wednesday they arrested Tuesday evening 38-year-old Derik Timmons of Almo.
Timmons is charged with three counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, 20 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
He was arrested as a result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The investigation began after discovering Timmons sharing files of child sexual exploitation online. The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Almo. Equipment used in the crime was seized and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination.
Timmons is lodged in the Calloway County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
