Datebook 5/31: Summer in the Park, Bluegrass on the Square, Art Display

The Summer in the Park program begins today at Murray’s Central Park and runs through July 15th. The program is open to all children through age 18; children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch is served from 11 to noon at the Bailey Pavilion, and educational programs follow from noon to 1. 

Bluegrass on the Square is this Friday night at 7 on the court square in Benton. The show Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers. The award-winning band is a regular guest on the Grand Ole Opry. Admission is free, with donations of canned goods accepted for Marshall County Caring Needline. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

A display of artwork by students of the Paducah School of Art and Design remains on display at Maiden Alley Cinema in Paducah. The exhibit includes 2-D and 3-D works in photography, drawing, ceramics, jewelry-making, and small sculptures. The show remains on display through July 17th.

Kala Dunn is a native of Princeton, Ky. She’s a 2006 graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy with a concentration in flute performance and a 2010 graduate of Murray State University with a B.M. in piano performance. She lives in Hamlin, Ky.
