Dem. Senate Candidate Jim Gray Raises $1.1M in 2nd Quarter

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jim Gray says he has raised nearly $1.1 million for his U.S. Senate campaign in the second quarter.

The Lexington mayor’s campaign did not say how much money it has spent during that time and declined to say how much money they have available to spend.

Earlier this year, Gray reported $1.8 million, but $1 million of that was his own money. Gray said he did not contribute to his campaign in the second quarter.

Gray is challenging Republican U.S. Senator Rand Paul. Paul has not released his fundraising totals yet.

Paul’s Communications Director Kelsey Cooper tells WKMS on Twitter, “we raised more.”

The deadline to file fundraising reports is July 15.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
