Eastern Kentucky University’s Board of Regents will be looking for a new president for the Richmond school.
Michael Benson announced his resignation effective January sixth through a campuswide email Wednesday. Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education President Aaron Thompson, a former administrator at EKU, says Benson’s leadership on and off campus will be missed.
“He was the convener of our president’s group that I put together. I’m going to miss his wisdom as we think about building a good education system or maintaining or growing a great education system for Kentucky,” said Thompson.
Benson will stay on in an advisory role during a period of transition. EKU’s board will establish a search committee and coordinate a national search for the next president.
