Melanie A. Davis will visit the Sounds Good studio for the first Live Lunch of 2020 on Friday, January 24th.

Murray, Kentucky based singer-songwriter, Melanie A. Davis, returns to the Sounds Good studio with a full band to debut her new album, Allegoria, in the first Live Lunch installment of 2020.

Described by Cincinnati WVXU's Jim Nolan as a "wonderful singer-songwriter...whose writing is imbued with intense passion wrapped in beautiful harmonies," Davis, 24, began her performance career at a young age. After more than a decade in musical theatre and choir, she picked up the guitar in 2016 and began regularly touring the mid-south and beyond.

Davis' latest album, Allegoria, is set to release on the day of her Live Lunch performance, Friday, January 24th. Allegoria uses personal and political narratives to express the anomalous and, at times, tumultuous existence of the average American woman. From adopting the perspectives of prominent political figures, to celebrating the lives of mid-20th century social rights activists, to reflecting inwardly on her own vices and tendencies, Allegoria guides the listener through a journey of confusion, disheartenment, resurrection, and perseverance.

Following her Live Lunch performance, Davis will kick off her release tour with a Murray show at Terrapin Station with support from Murray's Fate McAfee, Little by Little, and Paducah, Kentucky's Adrienne Lee. Saturday, January 25th, Davis will host a Paducah release at Dry Ground Brewing Company. Dates, times, and locations for the rest of the tour can be found on Melanie's website

Join Tracy Ross on Friday, January 24th at 12 noon for Melanie A. Davis' performance. You can listen on-air, on the WKMS website, or on theWKMS Facebook page. Live Lunch is made possible by Murray State Digital Media Services, Just Hamburgers in Paducah, and listeners like you.
