A former Graves County Commonwealth’s Attorney has entered an Alford plea on charges of misuse of funds.

A review of the Franklin County Circuit Court docket shows David Hargrove pleaded guilty on Friday in a plea that does not admit guilt. But the plea indicates the defendant’s interests are best served by a guilty plea. An Alford plea also says the defendant believes the evidence suggests a jury would find the defendant guilty.

According to the Mayfield Messenger, Hargrove’s charge was amended from a Class C felony to a Class A misdemeanor.

Kentucky State Police investigated Hargrove after allegations he used public funds for personal expenses. They uncovered multiple charges from a forfeiture account for expenses not allowed. Hargrove has paid almost $29,000 dollars in restitution.
