Fulton Co. Sheriff Dies After Battling Cancer Several Years

Long-time Fulton County Sheriff Robert “Bobby” Hopper has died at age 66.

Hopper died Saturday evening after battling cancer for several years. He became sheriff of Fulton County in 1994 serving for 22 years.

Kayla Mullis of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department says the Judge Executive Jim Martin will appoint a new sheriff later this week.

Visitation for Hopper is Wednesday from 5-8 at Cayce Elementary School. His funeral will be held at Hornbeak in Fulton Thursday at 1.

Ebony Clark is a student at Murray State University majoring in computer science. She was born in Brownsville, Tennessee. Ebony has served as a reporter for 4-H congress in Nashville, TN where she spoke with several state leaders and congressmen. Ebony enjoys writing poetry and spoken word and competed in Tennessee's Poetry Out Loud competition hosted by the arts council in Nashville,TN.
