Gordon Remnants To Bring Rainy Weekend To West Kentucky

National Weather Service Paducah
Paducah National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Shanklin said the storm will have the greatest impact north of the Ohio River, with lesser impact toward the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

The remnants of a tropical system that moved through Florida and Alabama early this week are encroaching on the Kentucky region.

Paducah National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Shanklin said the storm ‘Gordon’ is being ingested into the overall weather pattern. Shanklin said the storm will have the greatest impact north of the Ohio River, with lesser impact toward the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

Shanklin said the NWS is anticipating three to four inches of rainfall north of the river. He said there is minimal concern for severe weather.

“Overall we think it's going to be spread out enough overtime that it will not be an issue,” Shanklin said. “But again with those amounts as high as they could be, especially towards the Ohio River the greater the concern for some flooding.”

Shanklin said the bulk of the rainfall will occur late Friday through early Sunday.
