‘Hoax’ Bomb Dropped At Buchanan, Tennessee Bank

Henry County Sheriff's Office

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says a perceived explosive device at a bank on Wednesday turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

Police say a suspicious package and threatening note were found at Security Bank’s lake branch. The components in the package are used in explosive devices.

Police secured the area upon arrival to the scene on Wednesday. A bomb squad x-ray of the package revealed that it was an explosive device. The device was disarmed. There were no injuries.

The sheriff’s office is investigating along with the FBI and ATF. There are no suspects at this time and there is a $1,500 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at 731-642-1672 or the crime tip line at 731-642-0929. Security Bank will open at their regular time for business tomorrow (Friday).
