Police are investigating a break-in and theft of some 10-thousand dollars worth of tools and equipment from the Hopkins County Habitat for Humanity.

The Madisonville Police Department reported thieves took a 16-foot flatbed trailer, tools and supplies from the construction garage on Thursday evening.

Executive Director Heath Duncan believes that no ongoing projects will be hindered, as the organization's most vital equipment are located at jobsites, not stored at headquarters. He remains optimistic about the strength of the organization.

"One of the good things about us is we are very strong and very healthy," Duncan said. "This won't slow us down. It's a punch in the gut, but it won't keep us from doing the good things we do everyday."

Investigators have no leads at this time and are seeking the help of the public. Those with information are encouraged to call the department at 270-821-1720.
