Hopkinsville Leaders Urge Congress to Block Possible Troop Reductions at Fort Campbell

U.S. Army Photo, army.mil

The city of Hopkinsville is showing its support for keeping Fort Campbell troop levels where they are with a symbolic resolution.

In the document, new Mayor Carter Hendricks and the Hopkinsville City Council members urge Congress to block possible reductions at the base outlined in a June 2014 Army report. That report contained a scenario in which Fort Campbell could reduce its active duty troop population by half in order for the Army to comply with budget constraints.

A community listening session regarding the potential cuts will be held on January 20 at the base's family resource center.
