Hopkinsville Student Killed Moving Football Equipment

Hopkinsville Police say a 17-year old HHS student died after a piece of football practice equipment hit him in the head while moving it Thursday afternoon. Jayvon Corey Quarles was helping to move a large piece of equipment at Hopkinsville Middle School when it accidently fell and hit Quarles in the head.

The Kentucky New Era  reports the equipment was a chute designed to teach linemen to stay low during drills. The newspaper reports Quarles was going into his senior year on the HHS Tigers football team.
