MSU Center for Telecommunications Systems Management director Michael Ramage speaks with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about the center’s upcoming conference on information technology.
The free IT Matters Conference runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 at the MSU Paducah Regional Campus. Ramage says it is geared toward both IT professionals and local business owners and leaders.
“We have a lot of businesses who have been doing the same thing for years. And their thought has been ‘Oh, we’re doing okay. We’re making money. We’re getting by. We don’t need new technology.’ Well, there’s a lot of new technology that could either make them more efficient or help them make more money,” Ramage said.
Brian Huddleston, president and CEO of Nashville Technology Council, is the keynote speaker and will talk about getting creative to address a lacking IT workforce. Ramage says the agenda also includes Paul Engel of Cisco on data centers, John Truitt of Paducah’s Kalleo Technologies on turning IT managers into business leaders, Perry Myers of Peel and Holland on implementing a mobile workforce, and a security consultant at Microsoft on using Windows securely across an enterprise.
