Kentucky’s Judicial Nominating Committee announced  Tuesday nominees to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat in west Kentucky.

The First Supreme Court District is comprised of 24 counties in the region. The vacancy was created when Justice Bill Cunningham retired in early February.

The three attorneys nominated to fill the vacancy are David Buckingham of Murray, Tyler Gill of Allensville and Carla Williams of Dixon.

All three have served as Circuit Court judges and district judges in west Kentucky. Buckingham has also served as a Kentucky Court of Appeals judge.

Williams was named Chief Regional Circuit Court judge for the Purchase Region in 2007.

Governor Matt Bevin has 60 days to make the appointment.
