Public lands for hunting in Kentucky have increased by more than 4,600 acres. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said Wednesday they have opened six new properties, including two in western Kentucky.

Additions to properties include 842 acres in Big Rivers Wildlife Management Area and State Forest in Crittenden County and 217 acres in the Boatwright Wildlife Management Area in Ballard County.

In a news release, KFW commissioner Gregory Johnson said the decision to expand comes from surveys that showed a demand from sportsmen looking to hunt and fish.
