The 2020 Kentucky General Assembly is expected to be asked to keep the hands of time from jumping ahead or back one hour.  Legislation has been pre-filed to stop a traditional spring and fall time change.

The legislation filed by representatives Bart Rowland and Brandon Reed would make Daylight Saving Time permanent throughout the Commonwealth.

But, it could only occur if Congress first passed a law allowing states to observe Daylight Saving Time year-round.

A news release from Rowland and Reed cites research from the Brookings Institute, saying there is a 27% decrease in the robbery rate during sunset hours.

In addition to public safety issues, the same release states an increased risk of heart attacks following time changes.

If the House bill wins passage next year, Kentucky would join more than a dozen other states seeking to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. ?
