Kentucky leaders are responding to Amazon’s announcement Tuesday investing nearly $1.5 billion in a new shipping hub at a northern Kentucky airport and creating 2,700 jobs.
In a release, Governor Matt Bevin said Amazon’s Prime Air hub at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport will “pay dividends to both the company and our state.”
governor’s office predicts the project’s economic impact will add ‘hundreds of millions of dollars’ annually to the state GDP.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator Rand Paul congratulated Bevin and local leaders for the project.

“This is great news for the Northern Kentucky region. I applaud Governor Bevin, Boone County Judge/Executive Moore, and Covington Airport CEO Candace McGraw on their leadership in working with the community, local and state officials to secure this major investment in Kentucky. I appreciate Amazon for its commitment to Kentucky and its continued confidence in our exceptional workforce,” McConnell said.

“I wholeheartedly congratulate Governor Bevin for creating the business climate that encouraged Amazon to significantly expand in Kentucky!”

Amazon currently has 11 fulfillment centers in Kentucky.
