A California-based company is breaking ground next week on a $30 million hemp CBD extraction factory in far west Kentucky.

Kings Royal Biotech is holding a ceremony on March 15 in Carlisle County.

The company says the Kentucky Department of Agriculture recently finalized permits for their growing of hemp and for processing into pharmaceutical-grade Cannabidiol Isolate.

Kings Royal has partnered with an unnamed Chinese company that they say focuses on global hemp industrial chain investment.

Kings Royal says they have secured farmers to plant and harvest 2,300 acres of hemp.

The factory will be located on 8.8 acres in Bardwell. The company has said they plan to hire at least 100 workers.

The hemp will be harvested in the fall and processing is set to begin in late 2018.
