Kentucky State Police investigators are looking into the death of a man who was taken into custody over the weekend by local law enforcement agents in southern Kentucky.

Simpson County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Saturday afternoon and encountered 29-year-old Joshua Thomason of Louisville.

A news release from KSP said Thomason fled the scene of the dispute in a vehicle in an effort to elude deputies.

Following a vehicle pursuit, Thomason abandoned the vehicle he was in and fled on foot. He was apprehended and taken into custody by members of the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin Police Department.

Thomason then stopped breathing and members of law enforcement performed CPR until Simpson County Emergency Medical Services arrived.

Thomason was taken to the Medical Center in Franklin where he was pronounced dead. KSP Detective Wes Medley is conducting the investigation.
