KSP Reports Uptick In Burglaries In Graves County Community

Facebook, Kentucky State Police

Kentucky State Police are warning residents in a Graves County community to be on the lookout after a recent uptick in burglaries.

Trooper Jay Thomas said KSP noticed an increase in vehicle and home break-ins over the last several weeks around Wingo. He said the burglaries are crimes-of-opportunity and Wingo residents should lock up their vehicles and homes. He said people should also make their houses look occupied when they are away to “make yourself a harder target.”

“We’re trying to do extra patrols in the communities that we see an increase in,” Thomas said. “We look at statistics where crimes are being reported and then we try to put troopers and other law enforcement in those areas at the times that we’re seeing an increase in activity.”

He said people in Wingo should notify law enforcement if they see any strange or unusual behavior.
