The cause of death for a body found in Kentucky Lake on June 20 has been ruled a homicide and a suspect is now in police custody.
A Kentucky State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the body of Traci Jones, ruling her cause of death as a homicide. Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) signed arrest warrants in Henry County against Jeffrey Rogers of Arlington, Texas. He is charged with one count of abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence.
The woman’s body was discovered in a plastic container floating in Kentucky Lake. Agents have developed information which indicates Rogers used a boat rented in Paris to dispose of the body.
Rogers was arrested June 23 by Texas Rangers in Fort Worth. He is awaiting extradition to Tennessee. His bond is set at $1 million.
The homicide investigation is active and ongoing by Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, and TBI.
