Kentucky Lake Economic Development wants the Marshall County fiscal court to approve a county-wide study to determine the best location for an industrial park.
The previous fiscal court appropriated $100,000 dollars for the study, but the new fiscal court hesitated on approving the study.
According to the Marshall County Tribune-Courier, Judge-Executive Chyrill Miller expressed that she was not comfortable granting approval until the court knew how much an industrial park would cost the county and where that funding will come from, questions that Economic Development Director Josh Tubbs could not answer at the time.
However, Tubbs defends the proposed study.
“I think that approval is important because I think as a community as we move forward with this study, certainly having the fiscal court’s buy-in on this process is going to be very important to me, it’s going to be very important to the constituents they have, and it’s going to be very important to the industrial community,” said Tubbs.
The Fiscal Court is slated to make a decision on the study at its meeting Tuesday morning. Tubbs says if the court does not approve the study KLED would look to partner with individual cities to continue planning for an industrial park.
