The Mayfield High School football team will try for yet another state championship Sunday in Bowling Green.
The 13-1 Cardinals face Newport Central Catholic in the Class 2A final. This is Mayfield’s first season in 2A, having won the last three state championships at the 1A level.
The program has won 11 state championships overall.
The game kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m. at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
