Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell will spend Monday morning visiting with constituents and later honor prominent Kentucky Senator Alben Barkley. The Senate Minority Leader plans to meet with Murray community leaders at 8:30 AM in the Robert O. Miller Conference Center, then travel to Benton for a 9:50 AM visit at Sugar and Spice Restaurant.
At noon, McConnell will deliver a tribute to Barkley at the Carson Center in Paducah. He and Barkley are the only Kentuckians to lead their party in the Senate. Barkley served as Senate Majority Leader for the Democrats from 1937-1949. McConnell, a Republican, was first elected Senate Minority Leader in 2006.
