McCracken Co. Sheriff Warns of Unpaid Tolls Phone Scam

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office is warning of a phone scam involving alleged unpaid tolls.

Police said Tuesday scammers are contacting residents stating they are from the North Texas Toll Association. They claim recipients have unpaid toll fines and need to pay or the fines would increase.

Police say to be cautious of calls from alleged government agencies or associated businesses. They say it is unlikely agencies would attempt to collect fines or fees over the phone without written correspondence. When in doubt, contact a local law enforcement agency.
