McCracken County Library Board to Interview Director Finalists Next Week

The McCracken County Public Library has selected three finalists in its search for a new library director.  

The Board of Trustees received 37 applications since beginning a national search in August, and narrowed down a list of six semi-finalists to three.  

The candidates are:

  • Susan Baier, Library Administrator, County of Los Angeles Public Library, Downey, CA,has 19 years of public library experience. Los Angeles Public Library is a multi-branch county library system serving 3.3 million people with a $123 million budget. Baier manages 19 libraries within the Los Angeles system. She has a master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in English.
  • Jana Prock, Library Director, Keller Public Library, Keller, TX has 38 years of library experience. Keller Public Library is municipal library system serving 43,000 people with a $1.5 million budget. Prock has a master’s degree in library science and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
  • Thomas Vose, Director, Palmdale City Library, Palmdale, CA has 10 years of public library experience. Palmdale is a public library serving 160,000 people with a $1 million budget. Vose has master’s degree in library science and history.

Each currently serves as either administrator and director in their respective libraries.  
The candidates visit next week for final interviews.  The Library Board hopes to make a decision by Tuesday, November 15th.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
