McCracken Jailer Scheduled To Meet With Special Prosecutors Ahead Of Court Date

MCCRACKEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT.

The McCracken County Jailer facing misdemeanor and perjury charges is attempting to reach a negotiation with special prosecutors before returning to court.

Tonya Ray’s attorney Thomas Clay says Ray will meet with Special Prosecutor Jason Darnall and Special Prosecutor Lynn Pryor for a “settlement conference” on November 15. Darnall called the meeting a “negotiation conference.”

Ray is charged with first-degree perjury for allegedly lying under oath and faces a misdemeanor offense for allegedly violating the Kentucky Whistleblower Act. Clay said the meeting is the first attempt to settle both charges outside of court.

Darnall said the parties will be meeting to negotiate but nothing official will be decided outside of court. He said if the parties reach an agreement it would be reduced to writing and present it to the Judge in December. He said if they do not reach a settlement, they will appear in court in December to schedule the next court date.
