Multiple Airports In West Ky. To Receive More Than $4 Million From FAA

Multiple airports in Kentucky will receive $27.3 million in federal grants to fund “construction and rehabilitation projects” as announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Federal Aviation Administration, more than $4.1 million will be directed to airports in west Kentucky including the Jackson Purchase region.

The Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah will receive more than $2.2 million to construct a terminal building. The Fulton Airport was granted $216,000 to remove obstructions. Lake Barkley State Park near Cadiz will receive $150,000 to improve the runway safety area. 

More than $1 million dollars will go to the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport and Kyle-Oakley Field.




The following airports will receive a grant:

  • Lake Barkley State Park, Cadiz- $150,000 – grant funds will be used to improve the Runway 02/20 safety area.

  • Bowman Field, Louisville–$562,500 – grant funds will be used to install airfield guidance signs.

  • Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International–$5,538,862 – grant funds will be used to rehabilitate Taxiway S.

  • Fulton Airport–$216,000 – grant funds will be used to remove obstructions.

  • Rough River State Park, Falls of Rough- $300,000 – grant funds will be used to rehabilitate an aircraft parking area.

  • London-Corbin Airport-Magee Field- $1,403,934–grant funds to rehabilitate Runway 06/24.

  • Louisville Muhammad Ali International–$15,026,036– grant funds will be used to rehabilitate Taxiway C and reconstruct Taxiway G, rehabilitate lights for Runway 17R/35L and Runway 17L/35R and provide noise mitigation measures for public buildings and residences and acquire land for noise compatibility.

  • Kyle-Oakley Field, Murray -$359,500 – grant funds acquire land for a protection zone for Runway 05.

  • Owensboro-Daviess County Regional- $1,152,240 – grant funds will be used to rehabilitate Runway 18/36, Taxiway C and D and an aircraft parking area.

  • Barkley Regional, Paducah- $2,296,605 – grant funds will be used to construct a terminal building.

  • Lake Cumberland Regional, Somerset– $212,000–grant funds will be used to acquire snow removal equipment.

  • Williamsburg-Whitley County, Williamsburg- $63,869 – grant funds will be used to improve airport drainage.
