This morning, two west Kentuckians received 2014 Governor's Awards for the Arts. On Tuesday, we spoke with Michael Cochran, director of the Market House Theatre of Paducah, which received the Community Arts Award. On Sounds Good, we learn about the work of Murray writer and educator Constance Alexander, who received the Media Award.
A former AT&T executive, Constance Alexander completed her undergraduate work at The College of New Jersey and University of Copenhagen. She has an M.A. in Education and and MBA in Management from Pace University, NY. In 2000, she was named New Media Fellow by the Newspaper Association of America, one of 16 journalists nationwide. She's also been a longtime WKMS listener and commentator.
Some of Constance Alexander's activities in the arts include topics in healthcare and end of life issues, also Leadership Kentucky, as a representative for the arts in many venues. She serves on the board of the Kentucky Historical Society and became very interested in the Commonwealth's history. Her interest in oral history formed the project for WKMS: Connecting People and Place, about the people who lived in what is now known as Land Between the Lakes.
