Murray-Calloway County Hospital and Anthem, Inc., have reached a new long-term agreement for the hospital to remain “in-network” for those who have Anthem insurance plans.
Hospital CEO Jerry Penner in a release Wednesday said the hospital understands some people were anxious about whether a new agreement would happen, but he said he’s “pleased” a new agreement was reached before the old agreement ended February 16.
WKMS reported last month hospital CEO Jerry Penner said the hospital was renegotiating with Anthem on a new agreement because revenue from the previous agreement wasn’t enough to meet rising hospital costs.
Individuals with Anthem insurance plans could have faced higher healthcare costs at the hospital if a new agreement wasn’t reached before the old agreement ended, because the hospital would have been considered "out-of-network".
