Paducah Police Chief Brandon Barnhill announced yesterday that he is planning to retire at the end of the year.
He says that he believes the "timing is right" for a departure.
Barnhill has served as police chief for over five years, and says that he isn't sure what the future holds for his career.
He says that his biggest accomplishments as chief include hiring good quality people and fostering partnerships with the community.
Barnhill will continue to serve until the end of the year, and he says that he believes a search will begin for his replacement soon.
