Person Struck By Reported Lightning On Murray State Campus Dies

The person struck by reported lightning on Murray State University's campus during the storms Sunday evening has died.  Murray State Director of Communication Shawn Touney confirmed the individual's death on Tuesday. 

A trained spotter reported Sunday evening a person struck by lightning on campus was taken to the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Touney confirmed Sunday night that the incident occurred outside of White Residential College.

Touney said Tuesday in a statement on behalf of the university: "Monday evening, we were informed that a visitor to campus passed away as a result of a weather-related incident which occurred Sunday evening. The family was bringing their child to the university to participate in a summer program. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
