Police suspect a southern Illinois man shot and killed a Mayfield teenager and later killed the teen’s mother today.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says 41-year-old Terry Froman of Brookport allegedly murdered and abducted his ex-girlfriend 34-year-old Kimberley Thomas and her 17-year-old son.

Around 10 a.m. today friends of Thomas went to check on her after she did not report to work. They found a white male lying in the living room of Thomas’s home and called law enforcement.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office says the body was Thomas’ son who was the victim of two fatal gunshot wounds and that it appeared that Thomas had been abducted.

Before going to Thomas’ home police were investigating a possible abduction of a white female at a convenience store on Paducah’s south side involving a white 2004 GMC Yukon.

The Kentucky State Police also received a call today that Froman had been to his mother’s Paducah home covered in blood and was uncooperative with her when she asked what happened.

Ohio State Highway Police found Froman’s vehicle around 1 p.m. today and found Froman, who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and Thomas’ body.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police are continuing their investigation.
