Postponed: WKCTC Backstage Pass Series Presents Folk Rock Troubadour Fate McAfee

Manuel Llaneras
Fate McAfee will perform at WKCTC's Clemens Fine Arts Center this weekend as part of the Backstage Pass series.

This event has been postponed to a later date.

This weekend, the West Kentucky Community and Technical College will continue its stripped-down Backstage Pass series with local singer-songwriter, Fate McAfee. McAfee's performance will include cuts from his 2019 release, Diesel Palomino, and an exclusive preview of his next album in its entirety.

This weekend, the Clemens Fine Arts Center will present Murray, Kentucky's Fate McAfee, who has been described by American Songwriteras a "dark, brooding folk-rocker with hints of Nick Drake and the War on Drugs." McAfee's multi-generational musical influence, combined with a love of 20th-century poets, creates a sound that is romantically restless and powerfully poignant.

His March 2019 release, Diesel Palomino, is an eight-track collection of personal anecdotes of tragedy and growth gathered since McAfee's youth. With just an acoustic guitar, harmonica, and his trademark captivating storytelling, McAfee will present tracks from Diesel Palomino in their most original form. From the upbeat, finger-picking "Preacherwoman Blues," to the painfully nostalgic "Stars of Tucumcari," McAfee's stripped-down performance will highlight the vulnerability hidden within layers of folk-rock instrumentation found on the record.

McAfee will also exclusively present his next album in its entirety. Similarly to Diesel Palomino, the upcoming album grapples with the paradoxical nature of love, loss, and personal growth. McAfee also works to process the human experience within the context of modern society and the fear, uncertainty, and frustration that is present in that climate.

Join Fate McAfee for his Backstage Pass performance on Saturday, March 14th at Paducah's Clemens Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 in advance (tickets can be purchased online here). For more information, contact the box office at 270-534-3212 or by e-mail
