Democrats looking to win state constitutional seats in November are coming to west Kentucky on Friday for the annual Purchase Area Jefferson Jackson Dinner.
Calloway County Democratic Party Chairman David Ramey said gubernatorial candidate Andy Beshear will speak at the event. Ramey said the Democratic Party has momentum going into the upcoming election and is united behind Beshear.
“We think we’ve got a great candidate at the top and we’ve got a great slate of nominees from top to bottom,” Ramey said. “We think it’s going to be a great year for the Democratic Party, which in the long run means it’s going to be a great year for Kentucky.”
Other confirmed speakers are Secretary of State candidate Heather French Henry, treasurer candidate Michael Bowman and auditor candidate Sheri Donahue.
The event is in the Murray State University Curris Center at 6 p.m.
