Search For Missing Illinois Woman Suspended Due To High River Levels

Marshall County Emergency Management

The search for a missing Illinois woman is temporarily suspended due to high river levels across the region.

Brandy Osborne, 37, was swept into the Tennessee River near Calvert City earlier this month. Efforts to find her are called off as significant rain and flooding pound west Kentucky.

Marshall County Rescue Squad Chief Kurt Schmidt said the suspension is in place to protect the first responders looking to find Osborne.

“We called it off yesterday because we were monitoring the weather and seeing the storms coming in,” Schmidt said. “We just didn’t want to have our people out on that river during any type of inclement weather.”

Multiple agencies are involved in the search including the rescue squad, Southeast Missouri K9 unit and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Schmidt said he expects the search to resume this weekend.
