Books we're reading at the station and recommend to you. When we're not on-the-air or at our desks, we like to pick up good books. Most of us here at the station are, in fact, avid readers. In the style of NPR's "What We're Reading" (an excellent weekly guide) we, too, decided to share what we've been reading. Here's a list of books recently read by WKMS staff members, student workers and volunteers.Interested in a book on our list? Follow the Amazon link beneath the picture. Staff Pick from Calloway Co. Library: 'Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe'

Looking for a good book to read, but not sure where to start? Make a visit to your public library! Here's the first in our series of recommended reads from the staff at the Calloway County Public Library, Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe by Jane O'Connor, reviewed by a young reader at the library and read by Sierra Foster.

Review: It is common practice amongst us parents to refer to certain children as little princesses. Through creative story lines, underlying lessons to be learned and beautiful illustrations this book will capture the imagination of young readers. I have fallen in love with the character of Fancy Nancy with her over the top flamboyant style. In this charming story, Nancy is upset with her little sister JoJo. JoJo has her own creative style and decides to tattoo Nancy's favorite doll. Nancy is devastated and horrified by the disfigurement to her precious doll Marabelle. Nancy soon learns that the disfigurement is a blessing in disguise when her doll is lost during a party. The tattoo is an identifying mark that helps her find her precious doll. Nancy learns to forgive JoJo and the sisters are friends again. Also, love the illustrations!
