Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam is rolling out his new program to provide health care coverage to Tennesseeans currently uninsured or who have limited options.
Haslam says the two-year pilot program - called Insure Tennessee - will be the focus of a special session once the state’s General Assembly convenes in January.
Insure Tennessee provides two new private market choices for Tennesseeans and rewards healthy behavior. The plan also encourages choosing preventative care instead of unnecessary use of emergency rooms.
Haslam says Insure Tennessee will not create any new state taxes or add any state cost to the budget.
