Tennessee Republican Party, via Facebook

There are currently 13 candidates vying for the Republican nomination to succeed Tennessee’s 8th District U.S. Congressman Stephen Fincher, who has decided not to seek a fourth term. Those candidates will be in Paris this Friday evening for a forum sponsored by the Henry County Republican Party.

The open seat has also attracted two Democratic candidates and four Independents.

The 8th District includes most of west Tennessee, including Henry, Weakley and Obion counties.

The Republican 8th District candidates are Ken Atkins, Hunter Baker, Dave Bault, George Flinn, Brad Greer, Raymond Honeycutt, George Howell, Brian Kelsey, David Kustoff, Tom Leatherwood, Mark Luttrell, David Maldonado and David Wharton. The Democratic candidates for the seat are Gregory Frye and Rickey Hobson. Independents running are Shelia Godwin, James Hart, Adrian Montague, Mark Rawles and Karen Talley-Lane.

The forum takes place Friday at 6 p.m. at the Krider Performing Arts Center in Paris - the same day early voting begins for Tennessee’s August 4 primary election.
