A company working with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced a $12 million-dollar expansion in Dyer County creating 150 jobs. A northwest Tennessee business leader believes the surrounding region will benefit.
The company ERMCO Incorporated manufactures vehicle transformers. Neighboring Obion County has welding program through a local technical college. Lindsay Frilling is the CEO of the Obion County Joint Economic Development Council. She said she believes the incoming jobs to Dyer County will help keep graduates of the program in northwest Tennessee and bring new people in.
“So hopefully, you know, we’ll draw some new residents to the area to work. If our population grows, it’ll help us recruit more restaurants and retail type businesses. So, really, it’s a win win for everybody," Frilling said.
ERMCO Incorporated is headquartered in Dyersburg and is expanding to a third building to meet rising customer demands. The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development in a release said the department has supported 23 projects in Dyer County, creating more than 1,700 new jobs.
