UPDATED: MSU Alumna Comes Up Short in Bid for Summer Olympics Qualification

Former Murray State sprinter Alexis Love didn't move on in the trials for this summer's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Friday, she finished 24th out of 28 competitors in the first round of the women's 200-meter dash trials.

Murray State alumna Alexis Love will get her second chance at qualifying for this summer’s Olympics Friday afternoon in Eugene, Ore.

Love will compete in the first round of the women’s 200 meter dash, with hopes of moving on to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiero. She failed to move on in the 100 meter trials last week, finishing 29th out of 33 competitors.

Love graduated from MSU in 2013 and owns a number of school records, including times in the outdoor 200 meter dash and indoor 60 and 200 meter dashes.

Love’s race takes place at 5:30 Friday afternoon, Central time.
