UTM Grad Killed in Fallujah to Feature on New History Channel Series

The story of a University of Tennessee at Martin graduate who was killed in combat in Fallujah, Iraq will be featured on a new History Channel television series.

Marine Captain Brent Morel, a 1999 graduate of UT Martin, died in April 2004 when he ran across open terrain to confront insurgents who had hit his convoy with rocket-propelled grenades. He was the only American killed in the assault and was posthumously awarded both the Purple Heart and Navy Cross.

The series, called The Warfighters, will tell Morel’s story with first-person accounts and actual combat footage, combined with cinematic dramatization.

The show premieres on November 11. Morel’s episode is called "The Ambush of April 7th". Click here for a series trailer.
