West Kentucky ‘March for Our Lives’ Changes Location

MARCH FOR OUR LIVES MURRAY via FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE

The West Kentucky March for Our Lives demonstration set to take place this month has changed location. The march will be located at Memorial Park in Calvert City to accommodate for parking availability.

The march was originally planned to be held in Mike Miller Memorial Park.

Organizer Bobbi Foust said they are preparing for a minimum of 600 people to attend. She said it is a youth-led event, mostly planned by 14 to 17-year-olds from Marshall, Graves and Calloway Counties.

“They are on social media contacting their friends. Of course, Marshall County High School has nearly 1,500 students. So, if even half of those students come to the march we are going to have more than 600,” said Foust.

Kentuckians For the Commonwealth is providing organizational framework. Local police and other agencies will provide security.

The event is on March 24th at 1 p.m. and coincides with a national rally in Washington, D.C. to advocate for stricter gun regulations in the wake of gun violence and mass school shootings.

Correction: In an earlier version of the story, the quote was transcribed as "containing their friends." The correct quote was "contacting their friends."
