While mostly remaining the same, a seat flipped during the General Election on Tuesday in the Commonwealth.
District 2
Republican Danny Carroll handedly defeated Democrat Julie Tennyson on Tuesday to maintain his seat over McCracken, Marshall, Ballard and Carlisle counties.
In recent debates, Carroll has advocated for securing schools and doing away with income taxes in the state.
Carroll has served since 2015 and is currently serves on the School Safety Working Group, the Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Committee and the Committee on Appropriations and Revenue.
District 4
Republican Robert “Robby” Mills won control of the seat from incumbent Democrat J. Dorsey Ridley on Tuesday shifting the Commonwealth further red.
Ridley has served on the state senate since 2004. Mills will now control the seat which overlooks Caldwell, Crittenden, Henderson, Livingston, Union and Webster counties.
Mills has served as a state representative since 2017 and has served on the Interim Joint Committees on Local Government, Transportation and Natural Resources and Energy.
District 6
Republican incumbent C.B. Embry Jr. defeated Democratic candidate Crystal Chappell by a large margin on Tuesday in the General Election.
When he announced his run for reelection last year, Embry said he will continue to make sure his district receives its share of the state budget and will represent farmers, veterans and senior citizens. District six represents Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Ohio and Butler counties.
Embry Jr. served in the state house from 2003 to 2014 and has served in the state senate since 2015. He has served on the interim joint committees for Agriculture, Equine Issues and the Budget Review Subcommittee on Education.
District 8
Republican Matt Castlen won the 8th district senate seat over Democratic challenger Bob Glenn on Tuesday.
Castlen will fill the seat left by the retiring incumbent Joe Bowen. He is a one-term representative for State House District 14 and the owner of Castlen Steel. At a public forum, Castlen said said during his term in the legislature the state’s economy has been very healthy and that one of the major accomplishments of the GOP controlled legislature has been the passage of the anti-abortion legislation.
Castlen has served in the House since 2017. He has served on the interim joint committees for Appropriations and Revenue, Natural Resources and Energy and is a part of the Pro-Life Caucus.
