A Graves County resident is opening her solar-powered home to the public Saturday, Oct. 6 to promote solar energy.
The open house is part of the National Solar Tour sponsored by Solar United Neighbors. Leslie McColgin said the event aims to educate people on solar power.
“I just think that we need to transition to having a more diverse energy supply in our country,” McColgin said.
Solar energy advocates and candidates for state and local office will speak at the event from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday.
Speakers include incumbent 2nd District Representative Richard Heath and his challenger Charlotte Goddard, Graves County Judge Executive candidate Greg Higdon and U.S House District 1 candidate Paul Walker.
The open house is at 6337 Shaw Road in Melber and lasts from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
