Democratic incumbent Will Coursey defeated Republican challenger Keith Travis by just under 2,500 votes to win the race for Kentucky’s 6th District State House seat.

The district includes Lyon and Marshall counties, as well as part of McCracken. Coursey, a native of Symsonia, has served in the position since 2008 and is vice chair of two session committees, Banking and Insurance and Budget Review Subcommittee on Primary and Secondary Education.

His re-election comes in the midst of a Legislative Review Committee sexual harassment case in which he is accused of sexually harassing and then retaliating against his female secretary. Coursey has denied the allegations.

Attempts to reach Coursey for comment on his election victory were unsuccessful.

A proud native of Murray, Kentucky, Allison grew up roaming the forests of western Kentucky and visiting national parks across the country. She graduated in 2014 from Murray State University where she studied Environmental Sustainability, Television Production, and Spanish.
