Kentucky high school students will take the SAT instead of the ACT as their college admissions exam starting this school year.

Application submissions for federal student aid among students in Kentucky’s high schools are down compared to this time last year, according to data from the U.S. Department of Education.

The SAT and ACT's reach beyond college admissions is pervasive, with many states requiring students take one or the other in order to graduate high school.
